No. I still believe the resident family was up to no good and perhaps they were in the drug business on the side with the drug dealer at the bar. Maybe that's why they tried to steer the authorities away from him. Lily's demeanor and carelessness gave her a dose of how, right or wrong, people tend to judge you quickly on outside qualities. Sometimes you have to play the game to get "inside" before you can completely be yourself and change the world more to your liking.

Imagine being a young person in a different country and being in trouble with the law. That scares me have to death. All the different rules not to mention the language barrier. The whole story did not come out in Lily's trial. Does any trial come out with the whole story?

No - as in any court case what is presented by both sides in a trial is structured to portray the defendent as totally guilty or totally innocent whereas many cases in reality it may be a little of both. She was assumed guilty until proven innocent.

I do not know if the whole story was suppose to come out at the trial. It seems that the justice procedure in place is a little different from ours and that a lot of "decisions/perceptions" were determined before the "trial".
But either way I do not think the whole story came out as often does not not.
